Will leaving a 1 amp trickle charger on my car battery for 12 hours hurt it if it isn’t completely dead?

I am afraid of over charging it because there is no indicator that tells me when the 12 volt car battery is completely charged. The battery is over 5 years old… a Die Hard.

I’ve always had trouble with the alarm system draining my battery since I don’t drive it very often… maybe a couple of times a month.

a 1 amp trickle will not over charge it. if you do not drive it much however, I would leave the charger attached too it just to help maintain the battery. With it being 5 years old it’s service life is coming to an end.

most chargers are able to be left connected overnight with no harm done but a battery that’s needs charging regular must be faulty and seeing yours is 6 years old it is past it’s time so i suggest you replace it fast because it will fail you at the most arkward of times
