Will a power wheels charger charge a car battery?

My car battery is drained. I have no battery charger. I do have a powerwheels charger. The small charger says ‘Output 12 volts 1.2amps. If I connect these leads to my car battery with the right polarity will it charge it? And if so how long will it take to charge a car battery with it. I have some background in basic electronics and I am aware of any dangers that may arise, I am wondering if anyone has tried it and if it works.

i thought i was the only one to ever do that…but i guess im not alone. yes, surprisingly it will charge your battery, but with a 1.2 amp trickle charge (similar to 2 amp low charge on a battery charger) it will take overnight. about 6-8 hours. my battery was a 900 cold cranking amp duralast from the parts store and its still in the truck after 3 years.

I’ve never tried it, but it should work. It may take a little longer than most battery chargers, but what the heck – it certainly couldn’t hurt anything as long as you get the polarity correct.

Should work, best to leave it overnight.

I’m wondering if whatever drained it will keep it draining quicker than it charges with that tiny charger?

Yes it will charge it.. but very very slowly. It may take awhile but it will slowly charge your battery. However, do not try and start the car while the charger is hooked up or you will just fry the charger.. Your better off just jump starting the vehicle and go get a decent charger or a new battery.
