Is a slow charge (2amp) on a car battery charger the same as a trickle or maintain charger? ?
Hi,
I have a battery charger with multiple settings for charging. I would like to use it to maintain the battery in my car that is now in storage. I was told to buy a trickle charger, but I want to know if I can use the charger I already have.

2 Amps is HUGE for charging battery, buy a trickle charger, they are cheap enough anyway.
This is what to use, your 2 amp charger will fry the battery.

a 2 amp charger may be considered a trickel charge if you leave it on over night most chargers now are automatic they start at 10 amps and finish up at 2 amps than turn off
some true trickle chargers opperate at 1 amp or less and are designed to maintain a charge not to charge the battery you leave them on for weaks when your not useing the battery
if your battery is nearly dead and you hook up a trickle charger to it it could take days to get it charged up
for your situation fully charge the battery and disconect it and let it sit hook up the charger once a month for an hour that should be fine
