How To: Change a PT Cruiser car battery
This is a how-to video on changing the battery in your 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. I’m sure the process is similar in other year models; but this is the general idea of how to do it. You’ll need a flathead screwdriver and 1/2 inch socket wrench.

Thanks a million for this video!! I got as far as taking the cover off the air filter box, but was stuck as to where the tie down was located thanks a million again. Now I will install my new Powermaster XS Power S925 Battery!!
Use a Powermaster-XS-S925-AGM(Dry Cell) Battery. I have 1 installed and it’s the best battery ever made!! It is 3 pounds lighter than the factory Mopar(26 LBS). The S925 weighs only 23 LBS. Powermaster batteries also have twice the max amps of any regular battery on the market. S925(2400 Max Amps). Powermaster batteries also last 10 years with daily drivers, and they charge twice as fast. Hope this helps. Laterz.

Cheers
Thank You So Much! I could not fiqure how that air filter housing was connected. Just pull real hard! Too easy!
mhmhm not trying to hate or anything but y the plyers and when taking the battery mount out with the 1/2 y didnt he use a longer extention makes since any never use plyers as a tighing tool he could of used a battery tool or a 8 or a 10 it looks like a 10 to me but oh well he got it done but could of been easier
Thank you. That’s something I didn’t know.
Make sure to disconnect the battery leads first before loosening the battery hold down bolt. In addition you MUST remove the negative battery lead first before removing the positve lead. This eliminates the risk of shorting the positive battery lead to ground thus minimizing the potential of a battery explosion. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I was struggling with the air filter box and the battery hold down bracket until I saw where it was on the video. I went from frustrated to fixed in less time then it took to watch the video. Thanks again!

You’re a dumb ass…
1.)You do not need to remove air box
2.)Use 13 mm not 1/2″
3.)Don’t use pliers to tighten bolts
4.)Tighten battery mounting bolts first.
Please go set in front of a computer and drink your fro-fro coffee. I’m sure you’re better at texting than car maint.
Big Help. Thank you for the video lesson.
thanks a million for posting this, id changed my battery before but i’d completely forgotten how to get the air intake housing out. i never would’ve remembered that it just takes a sharp tug!
well done! thanks!
Very easy to follow instructions. Cut the time to change the battery at least in half. Thanks.
Very useful info. Thanks a bunch.
Awesome, thanks so much. I was done in 15 minutes. Guy at auto zone said I gad to remove the front tire to get at it.
Thank you so much! This also works on the 2006 Cruiser, but there’s another hose attached to the air filter box.
you are drivin’ the CRD, right?
The CRDs (Dieselmotor by MB) has the battery under the passenger seat
Great stuff.I couldn’t even find the battery.I spent the previous day charging the battery with the jump prongs and not understanding why it was still flat!
Awesome baby!!! like Dickie V says. Dude, you saved my life and my vacation. My fiance and I were on our way out and had to move “The Crusier” and in a Chicago winter (high of 11F today) batteries go dead. After I watched your video, I was able to swap out the battery in “The Cruiser” in under 15 minutes. Thanks man.
