how do i charge my cars battery with a charger? What volts, what settings?

My hummer’s battery is dead after not driving it for two weeks. I thought it was a bad battery but when i brought it to autozone they charged it for 4-5 hours and it was working perfectly again. I was curious what setting i should put my charger on (6 volts…12 volts boost…) and how long I should leave it on my battery so that i can get the same effect as whatever autozone did.
no one knows this simple question?!?

How many amps should a car battery be at?

I have a 2001 VW Passat and the battery suddenly died. I have had a charger running on the battery for the last 4 hours. The charger is showing that the battery is only at 1.5 amps. Is that normal? How many amps do I have to let the charger get up to until the car will have enough juice to turn over?
It is a 6 amp charger and the battery is about 4 years old.
